Using piezoelectric materials, acoustic vibrations can now be directly coupled to superconducting circuits. Within this emerging field of research, we develop devices based on this effect to explore its ultimate limits and to engineer new functionalities. Our devices have perspectives in quantum technologies going from quantum sensing (such as acoustic spin detection) to hardware for quantum information science (such as quantum interconnects).

What is the most effective electrical circuit for storing quantum information? Once the information is stored, how can it be manipulated optimally? How complex can the circuit be without losing scalability in a quantum computer? Protected qubits rely on wavefunction engineering to achieve maximal decoupling from noise sources without sacrificing control speed. We aim to leverage our expertise in circuit design, fabrication, and optimal control to enhance the accuracy of quantum operations and to reduce the overhead associated with quantum error correction.
